LifeFone VIPx (Voice-in-Pendant X)

Questions? Call toll-free 1-877-352-1292 or visit LifeFone’s Official Website

The LifeFone VIPx is a medical alert button and speaker device that can be used both in and out of the home. VIPx is equipped with GPS and a 4G LTE connection. The device is lighter compared to other similar mobile pendants on the market. As a long-established medical alert provider, LifeFone offers quality 24/7 monitoring services with backup call centers in place.

Although light in weight, VIPx offers outstanding features that competitors do not, such as a super-long battery life of up to 16 days, compared to the usual 3 days. Admittedly, we were skeptical at first until we tested and found it true in our user experience. In addition, we appreciated how our VIPx test calls were always answered quickly and professionally. Above is a video of a test call we made.

The VIPx product works with an optional Caregiver app that shares valuable data like the timing of the senior user’s first motion each day, device GPS location, battery level, and more. The data offers additional peace of mind, although adding the app will lower battery life to a max. of 5 days (which is still good). Regardless, customers or caregivers can be set up with free text, and email alerts for low battery and button pushes.

Overall, the LifeFone VIPx mobile medical alert stands out for its small size, long battery life, and availability of valuable data for caregivers. Their free email/text alerts package and fair purchase terms are helpful bonuses to cap off the customer experience.

Philips Lifeline GoSafe Medical Alert System

Philips Lifeline GoSafe 2 GPS Medical Alert
Philips Lifeline GoSafe 2 GPS Medical Alert

Update 2022: Lifeline has been sold to Connect America, and the GoSafe2 is no longer being sold.
The Philips Lifeline GoSafe 2 mobile medical alert system is an all-in-one medical alert pendant. Within the GoSafe 2 pendant device itself, there is a help button, phone connection, speaker, and microphone. The first generation GoSafe included an additional in-home base communicator unit. The base unit was completely done away with in GoSafe 2, making it easier to understand and use. Customers can always count on speaking through the pendant instead of through a separate desktop base unit.

GoSafe 2 comes with Lifeline’s auto alert fall detection, GPS, and other location technologies. It works similarly to other mobile medical alert pendants like the LifeStation and Mini Guardian medical mobile alerts described above. Philips Lifeline has traditionally been a top brand name that produces quality products, including the GoSafe 2. If there is any suggestion for an even better user experience, it would be to provide customers the option to share their location data with family and caregivers.

Older Mobile Medical Alert Systems with GPS

As mobile medical alert systems with GPS continue to evolve, some systems from the past few years have either been superseded by next generation models or taken off the market. You may have heard of Great Call Splash or Verizon Sureresponse:

Great Call Splash Urgent Response Device

Great Cal Splash [Succeeded by Lively] The Great Call Splash 5 Star Urgent Responder is the predecessor of the Lively. It is a small mobile emergency alert button device with GPS locator technology. By pressing the emergency button on the Splash, users were connected with certified emergency response agents via a cell phone connection. Great Call has continued to innovate on the Splash. Towards the end of July 2016, the company introduced the Splash’s next generation replacement called the Lively. More on the Great Call Splash >>

Verizon SureResponse Personal Monitor System

Verizon SureResponse medical alert device [No Longer Available] The Verizon SureResponse GPS mobile alert device was released to great fanfare back in late 2012, with the exciting premise for a single, seamless medical alert system for the home and outside. Similar to the Great Call Splash, the SureResponse system was a small mobile cell phone device with an emergency help button. The product did not appear to gain traction in the GPS medical alert systems marketplace. At the end of 2014, Verizon stopped selling it. They have not announced any follow-up mobile alert products.
