Bay Alarm Medical In-Home Cellular Response Speed 46% Faster in 2023

Last Updated on October 16, 2023

Good news for Bay Alarm Medical SOS Home (cellular) system users! Based on Medical Alert Systems HQ’s updated 2023 hands-on testing, we found that Bay Alarm’s SOS Home (cellular) system performed noticeably faster at 21 seconds on average (May 2023), compared to 40 seconds about 1.5 years ago. That’s a notable 46% improvement.

This faster response time to hearing an operator’s voice is reassuring. Here are the results from our testing:

Compared to other Medical Alert Systems

In-Home Cellular Medical Alert Systems

In comparison to similar in-home cellular medical alert systems, Bay’s timings outperformed those of LifeFone At-Home Cellular (47 seconds), Medical Guardian’s Home 2.0 (84 seconds), and MobileHelp Classic (97 seconds) based on Medical Alert Systems HQ 2021/22 testing.

These comparison numbers are only applicable to the in-home cellular models indicated. Each brand has multiple products, each with different response speed performance results.

The only in-home cellular system that we’ve experienced faster call response results with is the LifeStation In-Home cellular system (18 seconds). Still, we had a better overall experience testing out Bay Alarm’s system.

This is because Bay’s in-home cellular unit performed well in both response speed and backup battery life when we evaluated it closely first-hand (more details).

“Fastest Call Response Medical Alert” Comparison

The Lively Mobile Plus device is another good yardstick to compare with as it has been referred to the “fastest call response medical alert.”

For our 2023 testing, Bay’s results (21 seconds) outperformed the Lively Mobile Plus (32 seconds). However, when the results are averaged over a longer recent period (from 2021 to 2023), both products performed within seconds of each other.

In summary, we find that the both products offer fast response times, with Bay Alarm Medical’s SOS Home (cellular) being faster in the 2023 round of testing.

Summary

Based on our first-hand testing, we found that Bay Alarm Medical’s SOS Home cellular system reduced its monitoring response speed from 40 seconds to 21 seconds in 2023 vs. 2021/22. That’s a 46% improvement. It’s fast timing outperformed similar in-home cellular medical alert systems from other top brands.

Overall, the Bay Alarm Medical SOS Home wins our top recommendation for an in-home cellular medical alert because it tested fast for speed; and in addition to that, both it’s backup battery life and button range tested well.
