Many consumers actively seek out medical alert systems with AT&T connectivity. We have listed examples on this page. There are two main types of AT&T-powered systems, one that works both in and out of the home and one for in-home use only.

The original AT&T “life alert” system, the AT&T Everthere, was a mobile system that worked both in and out of the home. Although discontinued by AT&T in 2014, newer medical alert systems that work with AT&T is readily available through the top medical alert companies in the US.

One notable example is the LifeStation mobile medical alert system, Sidekick, launched in 2021. Learn more about it below. Another is the newer Bay Alarm Medical SOS Mobile launched in July 2022.

LifeStation offers customers a stylish and contemporary, lightweight mobile pendant for its on-the-go AT&T wireless medical alert. The wearable medical alert pendant comes with an emergency alert button and speakerphone, and works wherever there is good AT&T 4G LTE cellular coverage. As such, you can use this both in and out of the home.

New Activation Fee

LifeStation recently added a $99.95 activation fee for their Sidekick mobile medical alert on their website. This has prompted more readers to comparison shop. While LifeStation may be more closely associated with offering an AT&T medical alert, it is not your only choice.

Coincidentally, another well-known medical alert company, Bay Alarm Medical, also recently introduced a newer AT&T device. It is based on the smallest mobile device hardware on the market today. We compare the two below: Bay Alarm Medical SOS mobile vs LifeStation Mobile Sidekick.

With LifeStation, you may be able to get the activation fee reduced by calling them directly at 1-866-260-2696.

Style – New vs. Old

One distinguishing touch the Sidekick has is its chic design compared to standard
oblong-shaped mobile button devices. Unfortunately, many seniors actively avoid using a medical alert button because of how drab they look. The Sidekick has an encouraging vibe with its modern and energetic design.

The LifeStation mobile medical alert comes with up to 5 days of battery life. Since it does not need to stay constantly plugged in a power source, it will not be disrupted by temporary power outages.

Caregiver Updates, GPS Location Texting

All LifeStation products come with LifeStation’s caregiver tools package (no additional cost). For example, there will be text updates sent out to authorized contacts regarding the subscriber’s system.

In addition, for GPS devices like the Sidekick mobile alert pendant and smartwatch, there’s also text-to-locate. If family becomes concerned about the whereabouts of their loved ones, a simple text can provide valuable clues.

The caregivers package provide extra help and additional peace of mind to the family of the senior subscribers.

Through LifeStation user studies, AT&T and LifeStation discovered that 80% of Lifestation customers reported “feeling more connected to others with a medical alert system.” That really gives food for thought, as the feeling of being connected enriches our daily lives.

LifeStation Medical Alert Smartwatch

The LifeStation smartwatch, Sidekick Smart, is another snazzy alternative to wearing a medical alert button. Here, the help or SOS button comes in the form of a regular watch button. Subscribers push and hold down the top right button on the clockface to initiate an emergency call.

Customers can speak through the watch to the care agent, since the watch comes with a speakerphone built into it.

The smartwatch connects through the AT&T 4G LTE cellular network. It is meant to be worn and used both at home and out of the home, in place of the traditional medical alert neck button.

LifeStation In-Home Cellular System

Besides the mobile options described above, LifeStation offers more traditional home-bound AT&T medical alert system options. They have a classic system that works through an AT&T landline, and a no-landline-needed version that works with AT&T’s wireless 4G LTE network.

Both these in-home systems come with a desktop speakerphone base unit tethered to the home, paired to a separate necklace button (with no speakerphone) worn by the subscriber. This set-up will not facilitate use out of the medical alert beyond the home.

Bay Alarm Medical SOS Mobile

Bay Alarm Medical SOS Mobile Device

Bay Alarm Medical’s SOS Mobile works through the AT&T 4G LTE wireless network. Like LifeStation, Bay Alarm Medical is a well-known medical alert company. Bay Alarm Medical just introduced back in July 2022. It’s smaller, lighter, and faster compared to both its predecessor and the LifeStation mobile Sidekick reviewed above.

The Bay Alarm Medical SOS Mobile comes with a medical alert help button, speaker, microphone, and a SIM card. The subscriber will be able to directly communicate with Bay Alarm Medical’s monitoring operator through the wearable SOS medical alert device.

Small and Light. The Bay Alarm Medical medical alert device stands out for being very small and lightweight. It is based on the smallest and lightest mobile device hardware available currently. It’s noticeably lighter and smaller compared to the brand’s previous mobile device model.

Certified Monitoring. Bay Alarm Medical offers 24/7 US-based monitoring with top industry certifications like TMA Five-Diamond and UL Listed.

Compared to the LifeStation Mobile Sidekick

Compared to the LifeStation mobile Sidekick device, the SOS Mobile is about 15% lighter at 1.3 oz. You can wear it with a lanyard or a belt clip. Both accessories are included in the package.

Besides its smaller weight, the Bay Alarm Medical SOS Mobile device also tested slightly better than the LifeStation Sidekick mobile above in average response time (20 vs. 39 seconds) and battery life (5 days max. vs. 3 – 5 days max).

Bay Alarm’s SOS mobile costs $99 to purchase and there is no additional activation fee. In comparison, LifeStation charges a $99.95 Activation Fee. They will then lend out their Sidekick device to you, for free, as part of the device’s monthly subscription fee.

If I had to choose between the two, I would pick this Bay Alarm Medical AT&T 4G device over the LifeStation Sidekick due to its lighter weight, faster response, firmer battery life and extra belt-clip accessory. Not only that, Bay Alarm Medical’s device is less costly and you receive ownership of the device. As my Bay device was mine to keep, I did not need to mail it back at the end.

AT&T Cellular Technology

All the above ATT carrier mobile medical alert systems leverages the bedrock of AT&T cellular technology to establish needed service for their customers.

More and more seniors no longer keep a home phone line. Medical alert technology has been embracing cellular LTE technology to fill the gap.

As it turns out, cellular equipment come with numerous benefits. For one, they are easy to install – just plug and play. AT&T’s LTE cellular signals provide fast connectivity, and there’s no need for wifi or the internet either.

The technology also bypasses any interruptions related to phone line outages.

These AT&T cellular medical alert systems will work even for current Verizon or T-Mobile subscribers. This is because the devices contain their own connectivity and do not sync up with a personal cell phone plan or phone.
