When tested, the T-Mobile wireless alert device worked well, just as advertised. However, it’s a little different from a standard medical alert device. To receive monitoring help, we had to push the button three times. Let me explain…
Three Levels of Alerts
T-Mobile Moxee Signal product users were given the choice of pushing their button once, twice, or three times to send different levels of alerts. This made the product more difficult for seniors to operate. Seniors who are caught in an emergency situation may not remember to push their buttons multiple times to activate the right alert. No Two-Way Communication
Furthermore, the Moxee Signal device did not facilitate two-way communication. No helpful voice will come through to assuage the senior during an emergency.
Fortunately, T-Mobile subscribers can choose more current mobile medical alert devices that bypass the above disadvantages.

These mobile medical alert systems are best recommended for existing T-Mobile cell phone plan and phone users who live in areas with good AT&T or Verizon connectivity. The wireless emergency alert signals are sent through a major network like AT&T or Verizon instead of T-Mobile.
Again, they do not connect through T-Mobile, but they come with built-in connectivity that work independently from your cell phone plan. Most medical alert devices do not sync up with your personal cell phone plan. Instead, they provide customers with their own cellular plan arrangements (usually through AT&T or Verizon).

The SOS Mobile is designed to be carried in an accessible fashion, either clipped to a belt, a pocket, or even worn around the neck on a lanyard. It has only one job – to call for help.
A simple button press will alert Bay Alarm Medical’s certified US-based call center over AT&T or Verizon cellular networks. This connection works independently from your personal T-Mobile cellular plan. A trained response agent will answer quickly, establish what assistance is required, and dispatch it immediately.
There is no need to find a cell phone, unlock it and then call emergency services, one button press of a clearly accessible device does all of that. A companion phone app that is available for family members or caregivers allows GPS monitoring, but the beauty of the SOS Mobile is its simplicity.
One action gets the help that you need and gets it quickly. The SOS Mobile is available as a complete kit with easy setup instructions, a charger, pocket clip, and lanyard.
SOS Mobile vs. T-Mobile Moxee Signal
Button Push Operation – Once we pushed on the help button, the SOS Mobile connected us quickly and directly to their monitoring agent (20 seconds average). We could speak interactively to their agent through the SOS mobile device.
In comparison, the Moxee Signal only managed to send a one-way alert with an audio clip to their monitoring center with three pushes. We couldn’t use the device for interactive two-way communication.
GPS Location Request – Both devices offered GPS tracking and information sharing through their companion apps.
Size – Both the SOS Mobile and Moxee Signal are light in weight, with Bay Alarm Medical’s SOS Mobile being marginally lighter at 1.3 oz vs. 1.4 for the Moxee Signal. However, the Moxee Signal measured a hair’s breadth shorter at 2.5 inches in height vs. 2.7 inches for the SOS Mobile.
Cost – The SOS Mobile costs $99 and $31.95 per month, compared to $120 and $20 per month for the T-Mobile Moxie Signal. The SOS Mobile costs more monthly, and for the extra cost, you do get the benefit of easy two-way contact through the device in an emergency.
Monitoring Service – Bay Alarm Medical specializes in medical alert services and their call centers meet high industry standards like TMA (The Monitoring Association) Five-Diamond and UL Listed designations. In comparison, T-Mobile Moxee Signal offered 24/7 emergency monitoring, but the company did go into further certification details.

Medical Guardian’s MGMove leans towards being a smartwatch with an emergency call function than it does being a stand-alone mobile medical alert device.
Some seniors prefer a more discreet way to wear a button, and the MG Move delivers on that.
The MG Move watch looks sleek and smart from an observer’s viewpoint. Only the red-colored SOS button serves as a gentle reminder of its secret medical alert function. Operating over cellular services, the watch allows for full mobility and can be easily carried anywhere.
It has a multitude of extra features such as a weather app, built-in calendar, step tracker, and a text-to-speech function that makes it truly versatile as a smart watch. However, by pressing the red SOS button for a full 5 seconds, or by pressing the red SOS button that will display on the screen, you will trigger a call to a certified US based call center that will send help as needed.
The watch has a charger and a companion phone app, and a full battery charge should last you a whole day. The MGMove looks like a regular smart watch and is therefore a little more discreet in daily wear.
Performance Comparison
In terms of performance, we found the MG Move fast-responding. Its average response speed was about 30 seconds. Although not as quick as the Bay Alarm Medical SOS Mobile, it performed faster than the average speed of 45 seconds for medical alert systems in general.
In terms of battery life, MG Move comes with a standby battery life of up to 24 hours compared to up to 3 to 5 days for the SOS Mobile.
One thing you can expect is that the watch will require daily recharging. That should be borne in mind when choosing the right device. Given the context that smartwatches tend to have shorter battery lives compared to medical alert devices, this is par for the course if you choose a smartwatch over a mobile device.

Overall, the MG Move is a premium and modern alternative to a life alert button. It is best recommended for seniors who prefer something discreet and classy in appearance. Bay’s All-in-One cellular medical alert system comes with an extra small round wearable button. Although the mobile device itself can be worn with a lanyard, it is going to look rather bulky. The smaller button is feather-weight. At 0.6 oz, it is less than 1/3 the weight of the mobile unit.
The wearable button can be worn like a watch or a necklace and is linked to the SOS unit wirelessly. Even while the main unit is charging on the supplied stand the wearable button gives full protection all around the house.
While outdoors, the main SOS unit can be worn in the supplied holster and tucked away out of sight under clothing, while the ultra-lightweight wearable button can be hung around the neck or worn like a wristwatch. The available phone app also gives caregivers the ability to keep an eye on their loved ones from a distance.

Both of Bay Alarm Medical’s mobile devices bypass the limitations of the original T-Mobile Moxee Signal. They will connect you with a monitoring agent with one push, and you can speak directly into your mobile device.
If you just need a single device, its mobile speaker device is less nimble in performance compared to the standalone SOS Mobile. The SOS All-in-One is bulkier (All-in-One 1.85 inches vs. SOS Mobile 1.38 inches in width) and tested slower in response time, and shorter in backup battery life (see comparison details).
However, the SOS All-in-One comes with an extra small help button that will activate an alert on the device remotely, just like a little remote control button. Compared to the SOS Mobile, the SOS All-in-One system is more easily accessible. If you worry about a protection gap while in bed or when your mobile device is recharging in the charger, the SOS All-in-One is recommended over the SOS Mobile.

T-Mobile Moxee Signal (Discontinued)
The T-Mobile Moxee Signal is a pocket-sized personal safety wearable device. It’s a slightly different kind of mobile device compared to a medical alert. There is a single help button that acts differently depending on how many times it was pushed. The Moxee Signal used the T-Mobile network.

Once set up and activated via a mobile phone app, the Moxee Signal can be carried by any family member in a pocket or bag. If the button is pressed once, a signal is sent displaying the location of the carrier and signaling that all is okay.
Two presses will send an alert by text or to the app advising that you may be in trouble, and voice messages can even be sent. The communication through this T-Mobile cellular mobile device is one way only. The device will vibrate and beep to let the user know that the alert has been sent.
Three presses will trigger a red alert which will send alerts to the users’ contacts and to a monitoring center. An agent will look into the alert and potentially call the product user by phone.
Overall, it’s fair to say that the original Moxee Signal is not as basic and simple in its operation as other similar devices meant for the elderly.
A younger person may like the differentiation and find it easy to remember how many times to press the button to trigger the right alert. A senior who has perhaps fallen, or is having a medical emergency, may find it a little more difficult. The one-way-only communication feature may be tricky for some seniors as well.
