LifeStation Find My Loved One Text to Receive Mobile GPS Alert Location
Find My Loved One – Send a Text to Receive Location

LifeStation’s Find My Loved One is a texting/ SMS messaging feature allows family members and caregivers to locate their loved ones at any time through sending a simple text message. It works with their premium Mobile Medical Alert system. In response to the text sent, the mobile medical alert system will reply with the location of the mobile medical alert device’s customer.

We’ve tested this service using LifeStation’s premium mobile GPS medical alert, the Sidekick. We found it easy to use and accurate in performance. It usually took us a little over a minute to receive a result.

Many of us have experienced the anxiety of not knowing where our parents are. Sometimes, we worry that they may have gotten lost while out walking or driving on their own. This feature will allow concerned children, relatives or caregivers to retrieve much needed locations information through a simple text.

For a limited time, the Find My Loved One feature comes included with a premium mobile medical alert and smartwatch subscription without any extra charges (see current offer). This is in addition to free access to LifeStation’s caregivers messaging system, a feature that allows for contacts on the senior’s email alert list to be automatically alerted by email whenever a medical alert call has been received. These are bonus features over and above their standard medical alert monitoring service.

Started over 40 years ago, LifeStation is an established and reputable leader in the medical alert industry. Similar to Life Alert, they offer both both home and mobile medical alert systems. Customers like LifeStation because of their competitive terms, pricing and inclusion of useful, exclusive features like Find My Loved One discussed here.

How This Text-for-Location Feature Works

How LifeStation's Text to GPS Info Find My Loved One Feature Works
LifeStation’s Find My Loved One feature allows caregivers to accurately locate their loved ones at any time. This feature works on the assumption that the senior customer has his or her mobile medical alert device on them. Technically, the system will query for the mobile medical alert device’s location once the text message request is sent out.

To use the Find My Loved One feature, family members and caregivers can SMS “Find” and the first name of the senior user to a specific dedicated number. The Find My Loved One service will then retrieve the mobile medical alert device’s GPS information, supplemented by WiFi location data and to quickly and accurately locate the senior user’s mobile alert device.

In response to the “Find FirstName” text, the inquirer will receive a text message reply showing the address and a link to view the senior’s location on the map.

Why The Find My Loved One Text-for-Location Feature

This feature could prove critical when a senior is missing and the family wants to quickly establish their location. It allows seniors the freedom to move around while giving peace of mind to their children, relatives and caregivers.

The majority of medical alert system customers are seniors. More and more seniors today prefer to lead an independent lifestyle that involve activities like going on walks, hikes or shopping for groceries or entertainment. Even without a very active lifestyle, seniors may have reason to be out and about on their own one or more times a week.

This makes LifeStation’s mobile medical alert suitable for both seniors living with families or alone on in their own residence. Whatever their lifestyle or living arrangement, this Find Me mobile medical alert system feature provides assurance to family and caregivers when it comes to monitoring their loved ones’ safety. Although the help button monitoring feature is primary to the system, and very helpful in case of emergencies, it still relies on a manual button-press to signal the need for help.

There are times when the senior may find themselves lost on the streets or outdoors, or have trouble finding the route to get home. They may not remember that they can press the button for help. With the onset of forgetfulness, cognitive disorders, Alzheimer’s, dementia and other physical or cognitive ailments, the risk of these episodes will rise.

There are also times when senior customers with a mobile medical alert button device may not be able to, or fail to recognize the need to, press their help button manually to call for help. With this feature, caregivers can take a more proactive approach and find out where their loved ones are.

In addition, the Find My Loved One feature is suitable for on-the-go seniors. For example, let’s say your elderly dad is out driving but has forgotten to let you where he is going. This feature allows you to find him with a simple text message. If he has his mobile medical alert system device on him, you can easily locate him and rest at ease.

No Separate App Download Needed

Some mobile medical alert systems will share the GPS location information of system users with caregivers through an app or online dashboard. The benefit of LifeStation’s Find My Loved One feature is that it delivers the GPS information through a cell phone’s existing text messaging system. There are no apps to download or passwords to remember – making the information easy to access.

Overall, LifeStation’s Find My Loved One Text-for-Location feature addresses a definite need in the marketplace for not just a mobile medical alert button that seniors can press to get help anywhere and anytime; but one that provides a more proactive approach for children or caregivers to find their loved ones if the need arises.
