Pros
Use it At-Home and On-the-Go – Seniors and other customers can have the Mobile 2.0 base speaker device with them both in and out of the home. The base device will work anywhere, as long as it’s charged up and there is good cell phone reception.
Small and Lightweight – The Mobile 2.0 base device is small and light enough to be worn around the neck with a lanyard or clipped to a bag.
At 1.7 oz, it weighs less than 9 quarter coins. It even pairs up with a “remote control” help button that remotely activates an alert (more below).
Speaker and Mic on Base Device – The speaker and microphone for two-way communication is contained within the Mobile 2.0 base device unit. This ensures that the senior user can easily hear and speak with the monitoring center agent.
Water-Resistant – This mobile device is water-resistant and can be used in showers.
GPS Location Tracking – The Mobile 2.0 device can transmit location information. It tracks location through GPS and wifi positioning.
Subscribers also can share their mobile device location with their care circle through the MyGuardian online dashboard and app.
MyGuardian app – A companion online dashboard/ app for Mobile 2.0 customers and care contacts. It allows customers to manage their billing, emergency contacts information, set activity reminders, share their device location information, and more.
Smarti Voice Assist – Mobile 2.0 comes with a self-test button and vocal reporting of essential device information. That makes it an easy way for customers to receive a status update on their device at any time.
Separate Help Button – The Mobile 2.0 device is paired with a separate help button. It works like an optional remote control to activate an alarm call. A second button provides another point of alert activation and makes product use more convenient.
That said, in comparison, a single-button system could be simpler to understand. If you prefer that, the Mini Guardian is recommended.
Auto Fall Detection – An automatic fall detection button can be added to the Mobile 2.0 system.
Cons
Regular Charging Required – The Mobile 2.0 base device needs to be recharged fairly frequently, just like other similar mobile devices or cell phones, even top-tier ones. Each full charge takes about 4 hours and lasts up to 3 to 5 days.
Cost – Mobile 2.0 requires an upfront retail cost of $125 to purchase the equipment. The full retail price is higher compared to similar systems (average of $100 or less).
Mobile 2.0 Review
The Mobile 2.0 system works similarly to most mobile GPS medical alert devices on the market today. That said, it is a quality product with points that differentiate it from others. We will highlight these in the review.
Box Contents
The Mobile 2.0 package contains the portable Mobile 2.0 base unit – a portable device with a help button, a cellular connection, and a two-way speakerphone. In case of emergencies, you can push the alert button. That will place an emergency call to the monitoring center. You can speak right into the device itself.
The Mobile 2.0 device is small (2.6 inches tall and 1.5 inches wide) and light enough (1.7 oz, less than the weight of nine quarter coins strung together) to be worn around the neck. A detachable lanyard is included as part of the package.
Besides, there’s also a belt clip, and a charging cradle. It takes about 4 hours to get a full charge, and each full charge lasts up to 3 to 5 days.
Smaller and Lighter
Mobile 2.0 is the updated version of the Mobile Guardian system, and the speaker device about two-thirds smaller and lighter. It’s just a tad larger than the Mini Guardian.
The dimensions of Mobile 2.0 are 2.6″ Height x 1.5″ Width x 0.62″ Depth. It weighs 1.7 oz, which is noticeably lighter than the previous Mobile Guardian version that weighed 2.8 oz.
Built-in Cellular Connection
The mobile base device will connect through its built-in cellular connection (AT&T 4G LTE). As such, there’s no need to own a cell phone or sync it with your cell phone plan. Once charged up, the device is ready to be used.
Smarti Voice Assist
One feature that stands out with Mobile 2.0 is the Smarti button that will initiate a self-test of the device, and then announce the results. That makes it easy to manage the device.
Many mobile devices come with indicator lights to alert customers when issues arise (eg. Low battery, weak connection). However, it’s easy to forget what each of the visual signals means. For example, when the red lights are blinking, what does it mean?
In contrast, as a Mobile 2.0 product user, we can rely on Smarti voice assistance to tell us exactly what is happening.
Paired Help Button
Another plus of the system is that it comes with an accompanying help alert button that is paired with the Mobile 2.0 base device (see product page).
The button works like remote control to activate an alert call. It’s use is optional, you can decide if and when to put it to use. The package contains two accessory options to wear the separate help button, either as a necklace or a wrist bracelet.
When you push the help button, it remotely activates an emergency alert through the base device unit. The effect is the same as pushing the alert button on the base device – it will place an emergency call to Medical Guardian’s monitoring center.
We like this remote button set-up as it allows for another convenient way to activate an emergency alert. These are super-lightweight buttons as they do not contain a speaker and mic like the primary device.
If you are familiar with in-home medical alert buttons, these remote-control buttons work the same way. However, the advantage of Mobile 2.0 is that you can bring the portable speaker unit with you everywhere. In comparison, an in-home system has a much narrower voice range since the base device is a larger desktop unit that stays put.
The remote buttons are useful for the times when you just want to carry a less bulky button, or when you find wearing the main base unit inconvenient. For example, you could wear it as a wrist button when in bed, and leave the base unit by your bedside.
Although the remote help buttons will be able to initiate an alert from far away, as far as 500 feet (more than the length of a football field!), please be mindful of the voice range.
You won’t be able to speak with the monitoring agent if you are too far away.
Do You Like How Mobile 2.0 Looks?
In terms of design and appearance, Mobile 2.0 comes in the format of an oblong style block. It looks like something from a science fiction movie. Do you like it?
When it comes to buying a medical alert, looks do influence a lot of people. When how it looks is unappealing, it could discourage the wearing of the device. Unfortunately, it’s not going to help at all if the button is not near enough for you to reach it during emergencies.
Consider whether the design is acceptable to you or your senior loved ones. You can compare Medical Guardian mobile devices here.
Automatic Fall Detection
Medical Guardian’s Mobile 2.0 includes automatic fall detection as an add-on feature.
With automatic call detection, the device is able to tell if the senior user has fallen and then activate an alarm call. This is helpful if someone has a health condition (eg. syncope, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease) that could it difficult to manually push the alert button when an emergency situation develops.
Like all other fall detection devices, the button is not guaranteed to sense all falls 100% of the time. Subscribers are advised to manually activate an alarm call if they are able to do so.

Review Summary
The Medical Guardian Mobile 2.0 is a nifty and convenient mobile medical alert system with GPS. It is small and lightweight, and includes all the features (shower-resistance, location tracking and sharing, cellular connection, 24/7 monitoring) that one would expect from a first-tier mobile alert.
In addition, it also features an extra remote help button and access to the MyGuardian customer app that connects subscribers to their care contacts. If you are looking for a complete on-the-go medical alert system, Mobile 2.0 is well-worth careful consideration.
